INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL MEDITATION
Tuesdays, 7:30 - 9 p.m., September 21 to November 2
Six Weeks, $175 for first timers or $100 for reviewers
A meditation practice is meant to wake us up to the reality of our lives, to the possibility of being fully complete in each moment. INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL MEDITATION explores the experience of effortlessly resting in awareness itself both in formal “sitting” practice and as you go through your day. We will become familiar with the timeless spaciousness that is always available to us when we are fully present in the moment, or what Eckert Tolle calls the NOW.
We can learn to call off the inner and outer struggle with the burden of the past and the anticipation of the future. We do this by learning to access what sages have referred to as pure awareness, pure being, higher consciousness, or unconditioned mind. These are some of the names that have been given to an experience that is totally open and without any structure, an experience which is also known in buddhist teaching as “the ultimate medicine,” because it heals the psychological wounds of the past and builds courage to embrace an unknown future.
Our moment-to-moment experience of life is in large part determined by our conditioned belief system. Natural Meditation enables us to non-judgmentally observe and explore our core beliefs while learning to be less identified with our conditioning. We learn to accept our moment to moment experience as a doorway into inner harmony and spaciousness.. We will develop the skill of observing the ongoing inner and outer struggles that play out and create suffering in our lives and develop the awareness that calls off the struggle.
Whether we are formally sitting, or in the middle of a hectic workday, we can learn to access the spacious presence which is who we are: unconditioned awareness, effortless being.
