Yoga and Yamuna Body Rolling
with Susan Morton
Thursday, 9:30 – 11 a.m., May 20 to July 8
8 weeks, $165
Doing Yamuna Body Rolling in a yoga class deeply enhances the experience of yoga, increasing flexibility, strength and relaxation. Using the balls creates deep releases of the fascia, the muscles, and nervous system, leading to generally deeper postures, a sense of effortlessness, clear focus, and awareness of the body/mind/breath connection in each posture.
Spending some time working with the feet using footwakers and footsavers at the beginning of each class “wakes up” the feet – and when the feet wake up, the whole body becomes more awake and aware. The footwork releases and aligns the ankles, knees, hips and spine which results in natural alignment and increases the student’s ability to remained aligned within each posture. Working with the feet creates tremendous grounding in all of the standing poses, increasing balance and strength.
Since body rolling routines are designed to penetrate the musculature to the bone, students feel, at the end of a body rolling/yoga class as if they’ve had a deep tissue massage.
Experience the dual benefits of yoga and Yamuna Body Rolling and see how transformed you can be by a one and a half hour practice of these totally complementary modalities.
And besides the benefits mentioned above, working with the balls is fun! You’ll feel both playful and empowered as you develop greater abilities to use your body more freely and intelligently while having a great time.
